The Board of Directors of WBIIDC is chaired by Mr. Dilip Majumdar, an eminent personality associated with industries in West Bengal. Mr. Majumdar started his career in Durgapur Steel Plant in 1959. His popularity in industrial circles in Durgapur has helped him in getting elected to West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Durgapur continuously since 1977 upto 1996. Even before 1977 Mr. Majumdar became M.L.A. for the first time in 1966. Besides WBIIDC, Mr. Majumdar has also been actively associated with Durgapur Projects Limited, Durgapur Chemicals Limited, South Bengal State Transport Corporation and Durgapur Notified Area Authority. In WBIIDC also he has vast experience being its Vice Chairman from May, 1997 to May, 2000 and has been continuing as its Chairman since June, 2000.
